Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these French Toast Sticks are a fun and easy breakfast treat perfect for dipping and sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices thick bread (like brioche or Texas toast)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • Butter or oil for cooking
  • Maple syrup for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 3-4 sticks.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar (if using).
  3. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, allowing it to soak slightly but not get soggy.
  4. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add butter or oil.
  5. Cook the sticks in batches, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  6. Serve warm with maple syrup or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Use stale bread for best results—it absorbs the egg mixture better without falling apart.
  • You can freeze cooked sticks and reheat them in the oven or toaster for a quick breakfast.
  • Try adding nutmeg or using flavored syrups for variation.
