Frozen chocolate-covered bananas are a simple, refreshing treat made with ripe bananas dipped in melted chocolate and optionally rolled in toppings like nuts or sprinkles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 8 oz semisweet or dark chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sprinkles or shredded coconut (optional)
  • 8 wooden popsicle sticks

Instructions

  1. Peel the bananas and cut each in half crosswise. Insert a popsicle stick into each banana half and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Freeze the bananas for at least 1–2 hours until firm.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil together in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  4. Dip each frozen banana into the melted chocolate, turning to coat evenly.
  5. Quickly sprinkle with chopped nuts, sprinkles, or shredded coconut if desired before the chocolate sets.
  6. Return the chocolate-covered bananas to the parchment-lined tray and freeze for another 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm.
  7. Serve frozen or store in an airtight container in the freezer.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm bananas for best texture.
  • Coconut oil helps the chocolate harden smoothly.
  • Try drizzling white chocolate for a decorative touch.
