Funnel Cake Bites are mini versions of the classic fair favorite, featuring crispy, golden dough dusted with powdered sugar. These bite-sized treats are perfect for parties, game days, or just a fun dessert!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  • Make the Batter:

    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Heat the Oil:

    • In a deep frying pan or pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry the Funnel Cake Bites:

    • Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan.
    • Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until the bites are golden brown.
    • Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  • Serve:

    • Dust the warm funnel cake bites generously with powdered sugar.
    • Serve hot with chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, or fresh fruit for dipping.

Notes

  • Add flavor: Mix 1/2 tsp cinnamon into the batter for a spiced version.
  • Make it chocolatey: Drizzle with chocolate syrup or add cocoa powder to the batter.
  • Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but you can store leftover bites in an airtight container for up to 1 day. Reheat in the oven for a few minutes to crisp them up.
