Ingredients

Scale
  • ½ cup (1 stick / 115 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup (25 g) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional, for brightness)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Make the butter mixture:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, Parmesan cheese, rosemary, thyme, parsley, lemon zest (if using), salt, and pepper.
  • Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.

2. Shape the butter:

  • Transfer the butter mixture onto a piece of parchment paper or plastic wrap.
  • Roll it into a log shape and twist the ends to seal.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until firm (or freeze for faster results).

3. Serve:

  • Slice a pat of butter and place it on top of hot, freshly grilled steak.
  • Let it melt over the steak before serving for a rich, flavorful finish.
  • Garnish with extra fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

  • Use dried herbs if fresh ones aren’t available (use half the amount).
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a subtle heat.
  • This butter also works beautifully on roasted vegetables, grilled chicken, or baked potatoes.
