The Grapefruit Paloma is a refreshing Mexican cocktail made with grapefruit juice, lime, tequila, and sparkling soda. It’s light, citrusy, and slightly bitter with a touch of sweetness, perfect for warm days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces tequila (blanco or reposado)
  • 2 ounces fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup or agave nectar (optional, to taste)
  • 23 ounces club soda or grapefruit soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Salt, for rimming the glass (optional)
  • Grapefruit wedge or slice, for garnish

Instructions

  1. If desired, rim a glass with salt by rubbing a lime wedge around the edge and dipping it in salt.
  2. Fill the glass with ice.
  3. In a shaker or mixing glass, combine tequila, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and simple syrup or agave. Stir or shake lightly.
  4. Pour the mixture over the ice.
  5. Top with club soda or grapefruit soda and stir gently.
  6. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed grapefruit juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness with more or less simple syrup or agave nectar depending on your taste and the tartness of your grapefruit.
  • Grapefruit soda like Jarritos or Squirt is traditional for a sweeter version.
