Greek Yogurt French Onion Dip is a healthier twist on the classic dip, made with caramelized onions and creamy Greek yogurt. It’s perfect for dipping chips, veggies, or spreading on sandwiches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chives or green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions, salt, and sugar.
  2. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 25-30 minutes until onions are golden brown and caramelized. Reduce heat if they begin to burn.
  3. Let onions cool to room temperature.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix Greek yogurt, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Fold in the cooled caramelized onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving. Garnish with chives or green onions if desired.

Notes

  • Full-fat Greek yogurt gives the creamiest texture, but low-fat versions also work.
  • Make a day ahead—the flavor improves as it sits.
  • Serve with veggie sticks, pita chips, or whole grain crackers.
