Ingredients

Scale

For the Salmon:

  • 2 lbs King salmon fillet (skin-on for best results)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano (or thyme)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Fresh parsley or dill (for garnish)

For the Optional Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon honey (optional, for balance)

Instructions

1. Preheat the Grill

  • Heat your grill to medium-high heat (375-400°F).
  • Oil the grates well to prevent sticking.

2. Prepare the Salmon

  1. Pat the salmon fillet dry with paper towels.
  2. Drizzle with olive oil and rub to coat evenly.
  3. Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and oregano.
  4. Squeeze lemon juice over the top.

3. Grill the Salmon

  1. Place the salmon skin-side down on the grill.
  2. Cover and grill for 10-12 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 125-130°F for medium doneness.
  3. If desired, carefully flip the salmon in the last 2 minutes for light charring on the flesh side.

4. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce (Optional)

  1. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, garlic, lemon juice, and honey.
  2. Brush over the salmon just before serving.

5. Serve & Enjoy!

  • Remove salmon from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or dill and serve with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • Want extra smokiness? Use a cedar plank and grill over indirect heat.
  • Prefer crispy skin? Cook the salmon skin-side down the entire time without flipping.
  • Pair it with: Grilled asparagus, wild rice, or a fresh cucumber salad.
