These Grilled Pesto Turkey Burgers are juicy, flavorful, and infused with fresh basil pesto for a savory twist on your typical burger. Lighter than beef but just as satisfying, they’re perfect for summer BBQs or an easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale

For the burgers:

  • 1 1/4 lbs ground turkey (93% lean recommended)

  • 1/4 cup basil pesto (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for structure)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • Olive oil, for brushing grill

For serving:

  • 4 burger buns

  • Sliced mozzarella or provolone (optional)

  • Tomato slices

  • Arugula or lettuce

  • Additional pesto or mayo

Instructions

  1. Mix the burger ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, pesto, Parmesan, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs if using. Mix gently until just combined—don’t overwork the meat.

  2. Form patties:
Shape into 4 equal-sized patties. Chill in the fridge for 15–20 minutes if time allows (helps them hold together better on the grill).

  3. Grill:
Preheat grill to medium-high heat and brush grates with oil. Grill patties for 5–6 minutes per side, or until internal temp reaches 165°F. Add cheese slices during the last minute if using.

  4. Assemble burgers:
Toast buns if desired. Spread pesto or mayo on the buns, then layer with arugula, tomato, and the grilled turkey patty.

  5. Serve:
Enjoy immediately with your favorite side dish!

Notes
