This Ham and Cheese Quiche is a savory and satisfying dish featuring a flaky crust, a creamy egg filling, smoky ham, and gooey melted cheese. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even dinner, it’s an easy-to-make classic that everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 store-bought or homemade pie crust
  • 1 cup (150 g) cooked ham, diced
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or Gruyère)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (or half-and-half for creamier texture)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a store-bought crust, place it in a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges. Blind bake the crust (see note below) for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  2. Prepare the filling:
    • Spread the diced ham evenly over the bottom of the crust, followed by the shredded cheese.
  3. Make the egg mixture:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg (if using) until smooth.
  4. Assemble the quiche:
    • Pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese in the crust, ensuring everything is evenly distributed.
  5. Bake the quiche:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and slightly golden on top. A knife inserted into the center should come out clean.
  6. Cool and serve:
    • Allow the quiche to cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives if desired.

Notes

  • Blind baking: To prevent a soggy crust, line the crust with parchment paper, fill with pie weights or dried beans, and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the weights and bake for an additional 5 minutes before adding the filling.
  • Make it your own: Add sautéed spinach, mushrooms, or onions for extra flavor.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven for best results.
