Healthy Ground Turkey Tacos are a lighter twist on the classic taco, made with lean ground turkey and simple spices, served in corn tortillas and topped with fresh veggies for a nutritious, flavorful meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped red onion
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  2. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 6–8 minutes.
  4. Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2 minutes to blend flavors.
  5. Warm corn tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
  6. Assemble tacos by spooning turkey mixture into tortillas and topping with lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, cheese, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime.

Notes

  • Swap corn tortillas for lettuce wraps for a low-carb option.
  • Prep toppings in advance for a quick weeknight meal.
  • Add avocado or salsa for extra flavor and healthy fats.
