These Homemade Dill Pickle Gummy Worms are a tangy, chewy treat with a unique twist! Perfect for adventurous snackers or pickle lovers, this fun recipe combines the bright, briny flavor of dill pickles with the chewy texture of gummy candy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup dill pickle juice (strained)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, for balancing tartness)
  • 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin powder
  • 12 drops green food coloring (optional, for a vibrant look)
  • Gummy worm molds (or a lined shallow dish for cutting shapes)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pickle Juice Mixture:

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the dill pickle juice and granulated sugar (if using). Heat over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2. Bloom the Gelatin:

  1. Sprinkle the gelatin powder evenly over the warm pickle juice mixture. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes to “bloom” and absorb the liquid.

3. Dissolve the Gelatin:

  1. Return the saucepan to low heat and whisk continuously until the gelatin fully dissolves and the mixture is smooth (about 2-3 minutes).
  2. If desired, add 1-2 drops of green food coloring and stir to combine.

4. Mold the Gummy Worms:

  1. Carefully pour the mixture into gummy worm molds. Alternatively, pour it into a shallow dish for cutting shapes later.
  2. Tap the molds gently to remove any air bubbles.

5. Set the Gummies:

  1. Place the molds in the refrigerator and let the gummies set for at least 2 hours, or until firm.

6. Unmold and Serve:

  1. Gently remove the gummy worms from the molds. If using a shallow dish, cut the gummies into strips or shapes with a knife or cookie cutter.
  2. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Flavor Adjustments: For a spicier twist, use spicy pickle juice. For a sweeter gummy, increase the sugar slightly.
  • Storage: Keep gummies refrigerated to maintain their texture and flavor.
  • Creative Variations: Add a pinch of dill or garlic powder to enhance the pickle flavor, or roll the gummies in a mix of sugar and citric acid for a sour candy effect.
