Honey BBQ Chicken Tenders are crispy, juicy chicken strips coated in a sticky, sweet, and tangy honey barbecue sauce. Perfect as a crowd-pleasing appetizer, dinner entrée, or game day favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for baking) or oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • Chopped parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat oil in a deep pan if frying.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each chicken tender in flour, dip in egg, then coat in panko mixture. Press to adhere.
  4. If baking, place tenders on a greased baking sheet and drizzle or spray lightly with olive oil. Bake for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and cooked through. If frying, cook in hot oil for 4–5 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. In a small saucepan, combine BBQ sauce and honey over low heat until warmed through.
  6. Toss cooked chicken tenders in the honey BBQ sauce until fully coated.
  7. Serve warm, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use store-bought or homemade BBQ sauce depending on your flavor preference.
  • Air fryer option: cook at 375°F (190°C) for 12–14 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • Serve with ranch, coleslaw, or over a salad for a full meal.
