Honey Garlic Chicken Skewers are a sweet and savory grilled dish featuring marinated chicken pieces glazed with a sticky honey garlic sauce. Perfect for summer BBQs, quick dinners, or party appetizers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Wooden or metal skewers
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, olive oil, garlic, vinegar, black pepper, and onion powder.
  2. Add chicken pieces to the marinade and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours.
  3. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20–30 minutes to prevent burning.
  4. Thread marinated chicken onto skewers, leaving space between pieces.
  5. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates.
  6. Grill skewers for 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally and basting with leftover marinade during the last few minutes, until chicken is cooked through and nicely glazed.
  7. Remove from heat and let rest for a couple of minutes. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Can be broiled in the oven on high heat for 8–10 minutes if a grill is unavailable.
  • Double the marinade and simmer separately for a dipping sauce.
  • Serve over rice, noodles, or with grilled vegetables for a full meal.
