This creamy and tangy sauce brings a zesty kick, thanks to the bold flavor of horseradish, balanced with the richness of sour cream and mayonnaise.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp prepared horseradish (or more, to taste)
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp white vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sugar (optional, for a hint of sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Ingredients:
    • In a medium bowl, combine the sour cream, horseradish, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, vinegar, salt, pepper, and sugar (if using).
  2. Adjust Seasoning:
    • Taste the sauce and adjust the amount of horseradish, salt, or sugar to your preference. For a spicier kick, add more horseradish.
  3. Chill:
    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve cold or at room temperature as a dipping sauce or spread.

Notes

  • Prepared horseradish comes in jars and is usually found in the refrigerated section. Be sure to use prepared horseradish, not horseradish sauce.
