These no-bake caramel chocolate crunch bars are a delicious combination of crispy cereal, gooey caramel, and rich chocolate. They’re simple to make and perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Base:

  • 3 cups crispy rice cereal (e.g., Rice Krispies)
  • 1 cup crushed pretzels (optional, for extra crunch)

For the Caramel Layer:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

For the Chocolate Layer:

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Base:
    • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
    • In a large bowl, combine the crispy rice cereal and crushed pretzels. Set aside.
  2. Make the Caramel Layer:
    • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar and butter, stirring until melted and combined.
    • Slowly whisk in the heavy cream and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the caramel thickens slightly.
    • Pour the caramel over the cereal mixture and stir until evenly coated.
    • Press the mixture firmly into the prepared baking dish. Let cool for 10–15 minutes.
  3. Add the Chocolate Layer:
    • Melt the chocolate chips and coconut oil in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth.
    • Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel layer.
  4. Set and Slice:
    • Refrigerate the bars for 1–2 hours, or until the chocolate is firm.
    • Remove from the pan and slice into bars or squares.
  5. Serve:
    • Enjoy straight from the fridge for a firmer texture or at room temperature for a softer bite.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle flaky sea salt over the chocolate layer before it sets.
  • Add chopped nuts or mini marshmallows to the cereal mixture for variety.
  • Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 2 months.
