July Cake Pops are festive bite-sized treats made with crumbled cake and frosting, dipped in red, white, and blue candy coating. They’re perfect for patriotic celebrations like the 4th of July or Memorial Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box vanilla or white cake mix (plus ingredients to prepare)
  • 1/2 cup vanilla frosting
  • Red, white, and blue candy melts or colored chocolate coating
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Styrofoam block or cake pop stand for drying

Instructions

  1. Prepare and bake the cake according to package instructions. Let it cool completely.
  2. Crumble the cake into a large bowl until it resembles fine crumbs.
  3. Add frosting a little at a time and mix until the mixture holds together when pressed (you may not need the full 1/2 cup).
  4. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  5. Melt candy melts in separate bowls according to package instructions.
  6. Dip the tip of each lollipop stick into melted candy, then insert into a cake ball. Let set for a few minutes.
  7. Dip each cake pop into the candy coating, gently tapping off excess. Immediately decorate with sprinkles.
  8. Stick the pops into a Styrofoam block or stand to dry completely.

Notes

  • Chilling the cake balls before dipping helps them stay on the stick and keeps the coating smooth.
  • Use gel food coloring if tinting white chocolate for vibrant patriotic colors.
  • Store cake pops in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for longer storage.
