Ingredients
Scale
6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
3 tbsp unsalted butter
Red and blue food coloring
1/2 cup red, white, and blue sprinkles
Optional: white chocolate drizzle for decoration
Instructions
Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with nonstick spray or butter.
In a large pot, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
Remove from heat and quickly stir in Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
Divide the mixture into three equal portions. Tint one portion red, one blue, and leave one plain.
Press the red layer into the bottom of the prepared dish. Use wax paper or a spatula to flatten.
Press the white (plain) layer on top of the red, followed by the blue layer.
Sprinkle with red, white, and blue sprinkles while still slightly warm. Optional: drizzle with melted white chocolate.
Let set at room temperature for 1 hour. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Work quickly when layering as the mixture sets fast.
You can microwave the marshmallows and butter if preferred.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
