Ingredients

Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 pound ground beef (85% lean recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (or honey)
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (or more for spice)
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

For Serving:

  • 2 cups cooked white rice (or brown rice)
  • 1 cup steamed broccoli or carrots (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add Garlic & Ginger: Stir in minced garlic and ginger, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Make the Sauce: Add soy sauce, brown sugar, sriracha, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: Serve the beef over a bowl of cooked rice. Top with green onions, sesame seeds, and steamed vegetables if desired.
  5. Enjoy! Mix and dig in for a delicious, quick meal.

Notes

  • Want a healthier option? Use ground turkey or ground chicken instead of beef.
  • Low-carb alternative: Serve over cauliflower rice or lettuce wraps.
  • Add extra crunch: Top with shredded carrots or chopped cucumbers.
