  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for crispier fries)

For the Cheese Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk (or heavy cream for extra richness)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Toppings:

  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (e.g., Louisiana Hot Sauce or your favorite brand)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup crumbled bacon (optional)

Instructions

1. Cook the Fries:

  1. Preheat your oven or air fryer according to the French fry package instructions.
  2. Toss the fries with olive oil and 1 tsp of Cajun seasoning.
  3. Cook until golden and crispy. Set aside on a large serving platter or baking sheet.

2. Make the Cheese Sauce:

  1. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
  3. Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly, until smooth and thickened.
  4. Stir in the cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and remaining 1 tsp of Cajun seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat.

3. Assemble the Fries:

  1. Drizzle the cheese sauce generously over the fries.
  2. Drizzle the ranch dressing and hot sauce over the cheese sauce.
  3. Sprinkle with chopped green onions, crumbled bacon (if using), and an extra pinch of Cajun seasoning for garnish.

4. Serve:

  • Serve immediately while warm. Enjoy with extra ranch or hot sauce on the side!
