Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: extra maple syrup for drizzling or a maple glaze

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just incorporated.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set and the centers are still soft.
  8. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Optional: Drizzle with extra maple syrup or a simple maple glaze once cooled.

Notes

  • Use pure maple syrup, not pancake syrup, for the best flavor.
  • Add chopped pecans for extra texture and nuttiness.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
