Ingredients
Scale
1 pound flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/3 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Toss sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer and sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned. Work in batches if necessary. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan, reduce heat to medium and add garlic and ginger. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Stir in maple syrup, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
Return beef to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until beef is heated through and glazed.
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
Slice beef thinly against the grain for the most tender texture.
Add vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for a complete stir-fry meal.
Use real maple syrup for the best flavor—avoid artificial syrups.
Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in a skillet.
