Marble Cake is a classic, moist vanilla and chocolate swirl cake that combines two favorite flavors into a beautiful and delicious dessert perfect for any occasion.

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or a bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  5. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  6. In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder with hot water to make a smooth paste.
  7. Transfer one-third of the batter into the cocoa mixture and stir to combine.
  8. Spoon dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter alternately into the prepared pan, then swirl with a knife for a marbled effect.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the batter to maintain a tender crumb.
  • Use room-temperature ingredients for best results.
  • Drizzle with chocolate ganache for an extra decadent touch.
