Ingredients
Scale
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup whole milk
1/3 cup cocoa powder
2 tbsp hot water
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or a bundt pan.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder with hot water to make a smooth paste.
Transfer one-third of the batter into the cocoa mixture and stir to combine.
Spoon dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter alternately into the prepared pan, then swirl with a knife for a marbled effect.
Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Do not overmix the batter to maintain a tender crumb.
Use room-temperature ingredients for best results.
Drizzle with chocolate ganache for an extra decadent touch.
