Juicy hot dogs are wrapped in soft tortillas and topped with vibrant Mexican-inspired toppings like pico de gallo, creamy avocado, and tangy cotija cheese. These easy-to-make tacos are perfect for cookouts, game days, or a quick family dinner!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (beef, chicken, or your favorite variety)
  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese
  • 1 cup pico de gallo (or diced tomatoes and onions)
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • 1/4 cup crumbled cotija cheese (or feta cheese)
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Mexican crema
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)

Optional Toppings:

  • Sliced jalapeños
  • Pickled red onions
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced radishes

Instructions

  1. Cook the Hot Dogs:
Grill, pan-fry, or boil the hot dogs until heated through and slightly charred (about 5-7 minutes).

  2. Warm the Tortillas:
Heat the tortillas on a dry skillet or directly over a gas flame until warm and pliable. Keep them covered with a towel to stay soft.

  3. Prepare the Toppings:
In a small bowl, mix sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, and hot sauce to create a creamy drizzle. Set aside.

  4. Assemble the Tacos:
Place a hot dog on each tortilla. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and top with pico de gallo, avocado, cotija cheese, and fresh cilantro.

  5. Drizzle and Serve:
Drizzle the prepared lime crema over the top. Add any additional toppings you like. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, char the tortillas slightly before assembling the tacos.
  • Swap out the hot dogs for grilled sausages or veggie dogs for a different twist.
  • These tacos are great with a side of chips and guacamole or Mexican street corn.
