  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons Kahlúa (or other coffee liqueur)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened

For coating:

  • 1/4 cup (30 g) cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) finely chopped nuts (optional, like almonds, hazelnuts, or pecans)
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

1. Make the ganache

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a medium heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer. Do not boil.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Stir gently until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.

2. Add flavorings

  1. Stir in the Kahlúa, vanilla extract, and softened butter until fully incorporated.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the ganache is firm enough to scoop.

3. Shape the truffles

  1. Use a small cookie scoop or a teaspoon to portion out the ganache.
  2. Roll each portion into a ball using your hands. (Tip: Lightly dust your hands with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.)

4. Coat the truffles

  1. Roll the truffles in your choice of cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or powdered sugar to coat them.
  2. Place the coated truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

5. Chill and serve

  • Refrigerate the truffles for another 30 minutes to firm up before serving. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to enjoy.
