Indulgently creamy and packed with hazelnut flavor, these Nutella Truffles are a simple yet elegant treat. Perfect for gifting, special occasions, or simply indulging in a moment of pure chocolate bliss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240 g) Nutella
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy cream
  • 200 g (7 oz) dark or semi-sweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup (50 g) hazelnuts, finely chopped (optional, for coating)
  • 1/4 cup (30 g) cocoa powder, for rolling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ganache Base:
    • Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
    • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer (do not boil).
    • Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let sit for 1-2 minutes, then stir gently until smooth and glossy.
  2. Incorporate the Nutella:
    • Add the Nutella to the chocolate mixture and stir until fully combined and creamy.
  3. Chill the Ganache:
    • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2-3 hours, or until the ganache is firm enough to scoop.
  4. Shape the Truffles:
    • Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop out portions of the ganache and roll them into small balls between your palms. Work quickly to prevent melting.
  5. Coat the Truffles:
    • Roll each truffle in your choice of coatings, such as chopped hazelnuts, cocoa powder, or powdered sugar.
  6. Chill and Serve:
    • Place the coated truffles in an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For a crunchier texture, press a whole roasted hazelnut into the center of each truffle before rolling.
  • Truffles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 week or frozen for up to 2 months. Thaw in the fridge before serving.
  • Add a splash of hazelnut liqueur for a boozy twist.
