Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage or ground beef
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 8 oz uncooked pasta (penne or rotini)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or deep skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add onion and garlic, sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, broth, uncooked pasta, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Mix well.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
  5. Stir in pepperoni, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Let sit for a few minutes until cheese is melted and sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with fresh herbs and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use mini pepperoni for easier mixing and distribution.
  • Swap sausage for mushrooms or bell peppers for a vegetarian version.
  • Add olives or other favorite pizza toppings for customization.
