This one-pot spaghetti is a quick, easy, and delicious meal with tender pasta, rich tomato sauce, and savory ground beef—all cooked together in a single pot for easy cleanup!

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef (or Italian sausage)
  • ½ cup onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for spice)
  • 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce
  • 3 cups beef broth (or water)
  • 1 (14-ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 12 ounces spaghetti, broken in half
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ¼ cup fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Cook the Meat & Aromatics:

    • Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
    • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon (about 5 minutes).
    • Stir in onion, garlic, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Cook for another 2 minutes.
  • Add the Liquids & Pasta:

    • Pour in marinara sauce, beef broth, and diced tomatoes. Stir well.
    • Add the spaghetti, making sure to submerge it in the liquid. (Do not stir too much at this stage to prevent sticking.)
  • Simmer Until Cooked:

    • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 12-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and sauce thickens.

  • Finish & Serve:

    • Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese.
    • Garnish with fresh basil or parsley. Serve hot!

Notes

  • Make it vegetarian by skipping the meat and using vegetable broth.
  • Spice it up with extra red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce.

  • For creamier spaghetti, stir in ¼ cup of heavy cream or ricotta cheese before serving.
