Orange Poke Cake with Honey-Orange Glaze is a moist and citrusy dessert made with a fluffy orange-flavored cake that’s infused with a sweet glaze, creating bursts of flavor in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box orange cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box: usually eggs, oil, and water)
  • 1 cup orange juice (divided)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Optional: whipped cream or orange slices for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven according to cake mix instructions. Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the orange cake mix as directed on the box, substituting 1/2 cup of the water with 1/2 cup orange juice. Bake as directed.
  3. While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup orange juice, honey, orange zest, and cornstarch. Whisk over medium heat until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. Once cake is done, let it cool for about 10 minutes. Then, using a skewer or fork, poke holes all over the surface.
  5. Pour the warm honey-orange glaze evenly over the cake, allowing it to soak into the holes.
  6. Let the cake cool completely, then chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour for best results.
  7. Serve topped with whipped cream or orange slices if desired.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed orange juice for best flavor.
  • This cake tastes even better the next day as the glaze fully infuses the cake.
  • Top with a light dusting of powdered sugar for a decorative finish.
