These Parmesan Crusted Air Fryer Chicken Tenders are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor. Made with a simple Parmesan and breadcrumb coating, they’re a healthier and quicker alternative to traditional fried chicken tenders.

Ingredients

Scale

Serves 4

  • For the chicken:
    • 1 lb (450 g) chicken tenders or boneless chicken breasts cut into strips
    • 1/2 cup (60 g) all-purpose flour
    • 2 large eggs, beaten
    • 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/2 cup (60 g) breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • For serving:
    • Dipping sauce of choice (e.g., ranch, honey mustard, or marinara)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Set up the breading stations:
    • Place the flour in one shallow bowl.
    • Beat the eggs in a second bowl.
    • In a third bowl, mix the Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Coat the chicken tenders:
    • Dredge each chicken tender in the flour, shaking off any excess.
    • Dip the floured chicken into the beaten eggs, ensuring it’s fully coated.
    • Press the chicken into the Parmesan breadcrumb mixture, coating all sides.
  4. Cook the chicken in the air fryer:
    • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the chicken tenders in the basket in a single layer, leaving space between each piece (work in batches if necessary).
    • Lightly spray the tops of the chicken with cooking spray to help them crisp.
    • Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. Serve:
    • Remove from the air fryer and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, use panko breadcrumbs.
  • Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the breadcrumb mixture for a spicy kick.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the air fryer for 3-5 minutes.
