Patriotic Angel Food Cake Dessert is a light and airy layered treat made with fluffy angel food cake, whipped cream, and fresh berries for a red, white, and blue no-bake dessert perfect for Independence Day or Memorial Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 prepared angel food cake (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh raspberries
  • 8 oz whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon sugar for macerating berries

Instructions

  1. Cut the angel food cake into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, optionally toss strawberries and raspberries with a tablespoon of sugar and let sit for 10 minutes to release juices.
  3. In a trifle dish or clear bowl, layer half the cake cubes on the bottom.
  4. Spread half the whipped topping over the cake cubes.
  5. Add a layer of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries).
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, whipped topping, and berries.
  7. Top with extra berries for garnish and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Best served the same day to keep the cake from becoming soggy.
  • Use a clear trifle bowl to show off the red, white, and blue layers.
  • You can substitute whipped cream for whipped topping if preferred.
