Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 cup red, white, and blue M&M candies

  • 1/4 cup red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.

  • Beat in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.

  • Fold in the chocolate chips, M&M candies, and sprinkles.

  • Scoop dough into 1.5-tablespoon balls and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.

  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra festive look, press a few M&Ms and sprinkles on top of each cookie before baking.

  • Make sure the butter is not too hot when mixing or it could melt the sugar and make the dough greasy.
