Ingredients

Scale

For the brownies:

  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (35 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

For the peanut butter swirl:

  • 1/2 cup (120 g) creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. Prepare the brownie batter:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until fully combined.
    • Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir gently until just combined (do not overmix).
  3. Prepare the peanut butter swirl:
    • In a small bowl, mix the peanut butter and powdered sugar (if using) until smooth.
  4. Assemble the brownies:
    • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
    • Drop spoonfuls of the peanut butter mixture over the brownie batter. Use a knife or skewer to swirl the peanut butter into the batter, creating a marbled effect.
  5. Bake the brownies:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
    • Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool completely in the pan.
  6. Slice and serve:
    • Once cooled, lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper overhang. Slice into squares and serve.
