This perfect hamburger recipe creates juicy, flavorful patties with a simple seasoning blend—ideal for grilling or stovetop cooking and customizable with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, pickles, cheese, onions, ketchup, mustard, mayo

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, gently mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Do not overmix.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into patties, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent puffing.
  4. Cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or to your preferred doneness. Add cheese during the last minute if using.
  5. Toast the buns if desired.
  6. Assemble the burgers with your favorite toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use 80/20 ground beef for the best balance of flavor and juiciness.
  • Don’t press the patties while cooking to retain juices.
  • Let cooked burgers rest for a couple of minutes before assembling.
