Philly Cheese Beef Skillet is a quick and hearty one-pan meal inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak, loaded with ground beef, peppers, onions, and melty cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5–7 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat if needed, then add diced onion, green and red bell peppers, and garlic. Cook until vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning if using.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the beef and vegetable mixture.
  6. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to low. Let sit for 2–3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
  7. Serve hot on its own, with toasted bread, or over rice or pasta.

Notes

  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Add mushrooms for extra flavor and texture.
  • Serve in hoagie rolls for a sandwich-style meal.
