Red, White, and Blue Rice Krispie Treats are a fun and festive no-bake dessert made with colorful layers of marshmallow cereal bars—perfect for patriotic holidays like the 4th of July or Memorial Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • 15 cups mini marshmallows, divided
  • 9 cups Rice Krispies cereal, divided
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or grease lightly.
  2. For the red layer: In a large saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Add 5 cups of marshmallows and stir until melted. Add red food coloring and mix well. Stir in 3 cups of Rice Krispies. Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. For the white layer: In a clean saucepan, repeat the process with 2 tablespoons butter and 5 cups marshmallows (add vanilla extract if using), then stir in 3 cups of Rice Krispies. Gently press over the red layer.
  4. For the blue layer: Again, repeat with 2 tablespoons butter, 5 cups marshmallows, and blue food coloring. Mix in 3 cups Rice Krispies and press on top of the white layer.
  5. Let the treats cool completely before cutting into squares. Add patriotic sprinkles on top while still slightly warm, if desired.

Notes

  • Use a buttered spatula or wax paper to press layers evenly without sticking.
  • Work quickly when layering to ensure the layers stick together well.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
