Red, White, and Blue Trifle is a stunning layered dessert made with cake, whipped cream, and fresh berries—perfect for patriotic celebrations like the 4th of July and Memorial Day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 prepared pound cake or angel food cake, cut into cubes
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh raspberries
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with granulated sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture to form the filling.
  3. In a large trifle dish or glass bowl, layer 1/3 of the cake cubes on the bottom.
  4. Spread 1/3 of the cream mixture over the cake, followed by a mix of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
  5. Repeat the layers two more times, ending with the cream mixture and a generous amount of berries on top.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought whipped topping for convenience.
  • Make a day ahead for best flavor and ease of serving.
  • Use a clear glass trifle dish to show off the festive layers.
