Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, thinly sliced
1 cup sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (for gravy)
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Instructions
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
Shape mixture into 4 oval patties.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties until browned on both sides, about 3–4 minutes per side. Remove from skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add sliced onions and mushrooms. Sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir to coat. Cook for 1 minute.
Gradually whisk in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 3–5 minutes.
Return the patties to the skillet and spoon gravy over them. Cover and simmer for 10–15 minutes, until the patties are cooked through.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
Notes
Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease in the pan.
Add a splash of heavy cream to the gravy for extra richness.
This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles.
