This non-alcoholic holiday drink is a festive twist on the classic Shirley Temple, featuring a “Santa hat” garnish made from cherries and whipped cream. Perfect for kids and adults alike during the holiday season!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (240ml) lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up)
  • ½ cup (120ml) grenadine syrup
  • ½ cup (120ml) orange juice or pineapple juice (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Crushed ice
  • Maraschino cherries (with stems)

For the Garnish:

  • Whipped cream
  • Coconut flakes (optional, for a snowy look)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glasses:
    • Fill glasses with crushed ice.
  2. Mix the Drink:
    • In a pitcher or directly in the glasses, mix the lemon-lime soda, grenadine syrup, and juice (if using). Stir gently to combine.
  3. Add the Santa Hat Garnish:
    • Place a dollop of whipped cream on top of each maraschino cherry to resemble a Santa hat. You can add a sprinkle of coconut flakes for a snowy effect.
  4. Assemble and Serve:
    • Top each drink with a “Santa hat” cherry garnish. Add a straw and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For an extra-festive touch, dip the rim of each glass in grenadine and then in sugar crystals to create a frosty look.
  • Substitute the soda with ginger ale for a spicier flavor.
  • Use cranberry juice instead of grenadine for a more tart drink.
