A quick and easy Skillet Chicken Parmesan with crispy, golden chicken cutlets topped with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese — all cooked in one pan for a delicious weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound to 1/2-inch thickness.
  2. Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with grated Parmesan, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip in eggs, then coat in breadcrumb mixture, pressing to adhere.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add chicken and cook for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Reduce heat to low. Spoon marinara sauce over each chicken breast, then top with shredded mozzarella.
  6. Cover skillet with a lid or foil and cook until cheese is melted, about 2–3 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil if desired and serve hot over pasta, salad, or on its own.

Notes

  • Use thin chicken cutlets for quicker cooking.
  • For extra crispiness, broil the skillet briefly to brown the cheese.
  • Pairs perfectly with pasta, garlic bread, or a green salad.
