- 2 kg beef short ribs
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Rub spice mixture all over the beef ribs.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear ribs on all sides until browned.
- Place ribs in a slow cooker. Add sliced onion and minced garlic.
- Pour in beef broth, barbecue sauce, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours, until ribs are very tender.
- Optional: Transfer ribs to a baking sheet, brush with additional BBQ sauce, and broil for 3-5 minutes to caramelize.
- Serve hot with extra sauce and your favorite sides.

- Liquid smoke can be added for extra smokiness.
