Slow Cooked BBQ Beef Ribs

Tender and juicy beef ribs slow cooked in a smoky barbecue sauce until the meat falls off the bone. Perfect for a comforting and hearty meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 kg beef short ribs
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Rub spice mixture all over the beef ribs.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear ribs on all sides until browned.
  4. Place ribs in a slow cooker. Add sliced onion and minced garlic.
  5. Pour in beef broth, barbecue sauce, vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir gently.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 6-8 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours, until ribs are very tender.
  7. Optional: Transfer ribs to a baking sheet, brush with additional BBQ sauce, and broil for 3-5 minutes to caramelize.
  8. Serve hot with extra sauce and your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Use your preferred BBQ sauce for personalized flavor.
  • Liquid smoke can be added for extra smokiness.
  • Great served with mashed potatoes, cornbread, or coleslaw.
