Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • ¾ cup whole milk, warmed (about 110°F)
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, diced (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 23 tbsp milk (to desired consistency)

Instructions

Make the Dough:

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, remaining sugar, egg, and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix well.
  3. Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

Prepare the Filling:

  1. In a small bowl, mix the cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches). Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough.
  3. Spread the strawberry jam over the cream cheese layer and sprinkle with fresh strawberries, if using. Sprinkle ground cinnamon on top.

Roll and Cut:

  1. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Slice into 12 even rolls.
  2. Place the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30-45 minutes, or until puffy.

Bake:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Make the Glaze:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the glaze reaches your desired consistency.

Glaze and Serve:

  1. Spread the cream cheese glaze over the warm rolls. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make Ahead: Prepare the rolls the night before and refrigerate after slicing. Let them rise for 30-45 minutes at room temperature before baking.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave.
  • Flavor Variations: Swap strawberry jam for raspberry or blueberry for a different flavor.
