Strawberry Pretzel Salad is a beloved layered dessert featuring a salty-sweet pretzel crust, a creamy whipped filling, and a vibrant strawberry Jell-O topping with fresh strawberries. It’s perfect for picnics, potlucks, and holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 package (6 oz) strawberry Jell-O
  • 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Mix crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tbsp sugar in a bowl. Press into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to form the crust. Bake for 10 minutes, then cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and 1 cup sugar until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread evenly over cooled crust, sealing edges to prevent Jell-O from seeping through. Chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  3. Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water and let cool to room temperature. Stir in sliced strawberries.
  4. Pour strawberry mixture over the cream layer. Refrigerate until fully set, about 4 hours or overnight.
  5. Slice and serve chilled.

Notes

  • Seal the cream layer edges completely to keep Jell-O from leaking into the crust.
  • Use frozen sliced strawberries in syrup if fresh are unavailable (thaw and drain first).
  • Can be made a day in advance and stored covered in the fridge.
