Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings are the perfect appetizer or game-day snack, featuring crispy baked wings coated in a sticky, flavorful glaze made from honey, soy sauce, and hot sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drumettes
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (like Sriracha)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry)
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Lightly grease the rack.
  2. Pat wings dry with paper towels. Toss with baking powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Arrange wings on the rack in a single layer. Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
  4. While wings bake, make the sauce: In a small saucepan, combine honey, soy sauce, hot sauce, vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  5. Add cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1–2 minutes. Remove from heat.
  6. Once wings are cooked, transfer to a large bowl. Pour sauce over wings and toss to coat evenly.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use an air fryer for even crispier wings—cook at 400°F for 25 minutes, shaking halfway.
  • Adjust the heat level by adding more or less hot sauce.
  • For extra caramelization, broil coated wings for 2–3 minutes before serving.
