Ingredients

Scale

For the crostini:

  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For the whipped feta:

  • 200 g (7 oz) feta cheese, crumbled
  • 100 g (1/2 cup) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

For the hot honey:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

For garnish:

  • Fresh herbs (thyme or parsley)
  • Crushed pistachios or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Toast the crostini:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil.
    • Toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  • Prepare the whipped feta:
    • In a food processor, blend the feta cheese, cream cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, and black pepper until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
  • Make the hot honey:
    • In a small saucepan over low heat, warm the honey with the red pepper flakes for 1-2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let it infuse while preparing the rest.
  • Assemble the crostini:
    • Spread a generous layer of whipped feta on each toasted baguette slice.
    • Drizzle the hot honey over the top.
  • Garnish and serve:
    • Sprinkle with fresh herbs and crushed nuts, if using, for added flavor and texture. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can make the whipped feta and hot honey up to a day in advance; store separately in the refrigerator.
  • For a gluten-free option, serve the whipped feta on gluten-free crackers or cucumber slices.
  • Adjust the heat level of the honey by increasing or decreasing the amount of red pepper flakes.
