Teriyaki Salmon is a flavorful, tender fish dish featuring salmon fillets glazed with a sweet and savory homemade teriyaki sauce. It’s quick to prepare and perfect for a healthy weeknight dinner or elegant meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • 2 tbsp green onions, sliced (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. If a thicker sauce is desired, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1–2 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or heat a grill to medium-high.
  4. Place salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment or foil. Brush generously with teriyaki sauce.
  5. Bake for 12–15 minutes (or grill for 4–5 minutes per side), brushing with more sauce halfway through, until salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Drizzle with additional sauce, then garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Marinate the salmon in teriyaki sauce for 30 minutes for deeper flavor.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce salt content.
  • Pairs well with rice, steamed vegetables, or stir-fried noodles.
  • Leftovers can be flaked into salads or rice bowls.
