This homemade peach cobbler is a southern-style dessert featuring juicy, caramelized peaches baked under a crispy, buttery, golden-brown topping. It’s easy to make and perfect for summer, but you can also enjoy it year-round with frozen or canned peaches!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Peach Filling:

  • 6 cups fresh peaches, sliced (or 2 (15-oz) cans, drained, or 1 (32-oz) bag frozen, thawed)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjust for sweetness of peaches)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (to thicken the filling)

For the Cobbler Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.

2. Prepare the Peach Filling:

  • In a large bowl, mix sliced peaches, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
  • Toss to coat evenly, then transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.

3. Make the Cobbler Topping:

  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Stir in melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until combined.
  • Pour the batter evenly over the peaches (don’t mix it in—just let it spread naturally).

4. Bake Until Golden & Bubbly:

  • Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling.

5. Serve & Enjoy:

  • Let the cobbler cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Fresh vs. Canned Peaches: Fresh peaches are best, but canned or frozen work great too. If using canned peaches, reduce sugar by 2-3 tbsp since they’re already sweetened.
  • Want a crispier topping? Sprinkle 1-2 tbsp of coarse sugar on top before baking.
  • Add a crunch! Mix 1/4 cup chopped pecans into the topping for a nutty twist.
