White Trash is a fun, easy, and irresistibly sweet snack mix that combines crunchy cereal, pretzels, and candy, all coated in white chocolate. Perfect for parties, holidays, or as a quick treat, this no-bake recipe is a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Rice Chex or Corn Chex cereal
  • 2 cups pretzels (mini twists or sticks)
  • 1 cup salted peanuts (or mixed nuts)
  • 1 cup M&M’s (holiday-themed for a festive touch)
  • 1 1/2 cups (10 oz / 280 g) white chocolate chips or melting wafers
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or coconut oil (optional, for smoother melting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare a large mixing bowl:
    • In a large bowl, combine the Rice Chex, pretzels, peanuts, and M&M’s. Mix gently to combine.
  2. Melt the white chocolate:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth and fully melted. (Add vegetable oil or coconut oil if needed to thin the chocolate.) Alternatively, melt the chocolate using a double boiler.
  3. Coat the mix:
    • Pour the melted white chocolate over the cereal mixture. Gently toss with a spatula or wooden spoon until everything is evenly coated.
  4. Spread and cool:
    • Spread the mixture onto a large baking sheet lined with parchment paper or wax paper. Let it sit at room temperature until the white chocolate hardens, about 30 minutes. (You can refrigerate it for faster setting.)
  5. Break into pieces:
    • Once the chocolate has hardened, break the mix into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Serve or store:
    • Transfer to a serving bowl or an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Customize with other mix-ins like mini marshmallows, toffee bits, or candy-coated sunflower seeds.
  • Use almond bark or white candy melts if white chocolate chips are unavailable.
  • For a festive touch, add sprinkles or colored sugar before the chocolate sets.
