These oven-baked country-style ribs are cooked low and slow until they’re melt-in-your-mouth tender. A flavorful dry rub and a tangy barbecue sauce make them irresistible!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 lbs country-style pork ribs (bone-in or boneless)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Dry Rub:

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional, for a bit of heat)

For the Barbecue Sauce:

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a baking dish with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

  2. Prepare the Ribs:
Pat the ribs dry with paper towels. Rub them with olive oil to help the seasoning stick.

  3. Make the Dry Rub:
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  4. Season the Ribs:
Generously coat the ribs with the dry rub, ensuring all sides are well covered. Gently massage the seasoning into the meat.

  5. Bake the Ribs:
Place the ribs in the prepared baking dish. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 2 hours, or until the ribs are tender.

  6. Prepare the Barbecue Sauce:
In a bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, honey, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix well.

  7. Glaze and Broil:
After 2 hours, remove the foil. Brush the ribs with the barbecue sauce and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Bake uncovered for 15-20 minutes, basting with more sauce halfway through. For a caramelized finish, broil on high for 2-3 minutes, keeping a close eye to avoid burning.

  8. Serve:
Let the ribs rest for a few minutes, then serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Low and Slow: Baking at a low temperature ensures tender and juicy ribs.
  • Broiling for Caramelization: A quick broil at the end gives the ribs a beautiful, sticky glaze.
  • Marinate for More Flavor: If you have time, marinate the ribs in the dry rub overnight.
