Ingredients

Scale

Brownies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)

Football Decorations:

  • ½ cup white icing or royal icing
  • 1 piping bag or resealable bag with a small tip cut off

Instructions

Make the Brownies:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips for extra fudginess.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let the brownies cool completely before cutting.

Cut & Decorate:

  1. Use a football-shaped cookie cutter or a knife to cut out football shapes.
  2. Fill a piping bag with white icing and pipe laces onto each brownie football.
  3. Let the icing set before serving.

Notes

  • No football cutter? Cut out ovals with a knife and round the edges for a football shape.
  • Extra fudgy tip: Slightly underbake for gooier brownies.
  • Storage: Keep brownies in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
