This Homemade Ranch Dressing is creamy, zesty, and packed with fresh herbs. It’s incredibly easy to make with simple pantry ingredients and tastes so much better than bottled ranch. Use it as a salad dressing, dip, or sandwich spread!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt for a lighter version)
  • ½ cup buttermilk (or regular milk with 1 teaspoon lemon juice)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon dried chives (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (or white vinegar, for extra tang)

Instructions

  • Mix the Base:

    • In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, and buttermilk until smooth.
  • Add Seasonings:

    • Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, dill, parsley, chives (if using), salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Mix until everything is fully combined.
  • Chill:

    • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to blend.
  • Serve:

    • Stir well before serving. Use as a salad dressing, dipping sauce, or sandwich spread.

Notes

  • For a thicker dip, reduce the buttermilk to ¼ cup.
  • Add ½ teaspoon of cayenne pepper or hot sauce for a spicy version.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
